To unify a state, many components such as strategy, population willingness and cooperation are needed. All of those were crucial for the unification of Italy, but moreover it was the two men that have contributed the most; Count Camillo di Cavour and Giuseppe Garibaldi. They were completely different. Cavour was the leading strategic power behind the unification and Garibaldi was the national hero inspiring the masses. It cannot be denied that the success of the unification of Italy depended on both of them. Johari window is one of the most important self assessment tolls which help to provide a large amount of information about our own traits in workplace and what others think of us. This tool mainly has four important plots called quadrants. The first one is called the open area which describes the individual trait of me which is known by me and also by others. The second plot is the blind area where the traits I have are known to others but not known to me. The third one is the hidden areas which states of the traits which are known to me but are hidden to the others. The fourth plot is called the unknown area where the traits that I have are neither known by me nor are also known to others. Form the first quadrant I came to know that I have the traits like being hardworking, open minded, organized, caring, challenging, friendly, active and also self assertive. Form the second quadrant I came to know that I am sensitive, sentimental and at the same time lack patience. In the third qua drant, I came to understand that I like to observe things with great concentrations and thoroughly. I also noticed that I am self conscious and like to take up challenges. The fourth quadrant revealed that although I am trustworthy and spontaneous in any communication approaches but lack confidence. The second tool of assessment of my communication style that I have selected is the communication style questionnaire. This is one of the best tolls for an individual to reflect upon the different communication skills, habits as well as skill that he has mastered in the years of his profession and also shows that areas where he needs further improvement. The score displayed by it over gives an insight that how effective the skills are and also helps to know whether they needed any improvement. From this tool, I came to understand that I am coming under the pragmatist group. The individuals of these groups continually try to develop different new ideas so that they can try out different ways to reach goals and objectives. The negative aspect of the members of this group is that they are quite impatient. However, at the same time, they are down to earth and also harbor different sorts of problem solving skills which help them to handle different strenuous situations effectively. The third toll which can be used here is the assertive questionnaire. This tool is of great importance in helping the individual to reflect his interpersonal skills which help in handling different personal as well as professional issues and developing a proper view point towards it. The questionnaire has mainly 60 questions which needs to be answered in two options such as either rather no or in rather yes. These answers would then be added in specific columns which in turn will help us to reach the final results. The four main groups under which an individual is allotted after the tests are Manipulation, Aggressive attitude (attack), Passive attitude (flight) and Harmonious assertiveness. To my very little knowledge, I realized that I belong to the category of flight as the graphs respond to mine traits in the flight section only. Avery negative aspect was reflected through it. It made me know that I mainly believe in an escapist manner trying to avoid the critical situation and ra ther than trying out new strategies to combat the challenges, I try to remain satisfied. This made me realize that I lack patient in my listening skills and also have lack of confidence in feedback giving and receiving skills and also during any conversations with colleagues. However, instead of fighting the issues I tried to avoid the issues which therefore have affected my career largely. Therefore coming under flight category had been just for me. The fourth tool that I used for the reflection assignment is called the communication skill assessment quiz. This quiz has 25 important questions and is mainly a form of an online test which helps in generating the result after the 25 questions each giving four options are attempted and the submit button is pressed. It immediately provides a result which gives the individual a detailed description of the traits he possesses at an interpersonal level. This test showed that I have issue in my confidence level while communicating mainly in feedback receiving and giving skill. Although I have many positive traits, some negative aspects which was also noted was my impatient approach both in listening and conversation skills. Another important tool which was also found of importance is the IABC Communication Skills Assessment Tool. This tool is more useful in identifying the barriers while completing assignments set by leaders or managers. This is mainly based on the target and also a priority which are set by supervisors. The individuals need to give themselves score from 1to 5 and thereby try to look for the score in each of the domains. Although good marks were achieved by me in different domains, however I could not do well in the client management domain. The main reason is that I failed to handle my comet confidently and did not take their inputs efficiently for which I was criticized. I had got fewer marks in the priority and target set by leaders. I failed in establishing a proper relation with my clients as I neither heard them properly due to my inpatients and lack of confidence to engage in proper conversations and feedback giving and receiving skills were the main reason. From the entire discussion, I have identified two important issues in my communication procedures which I need to correct. The first one is my impatient attitude which often creates a barrier in my effective listening skills. I often cut down my colleagues and others halfway or do not listen to them patiently and genuinely for which my performance also gets affected and others develop negative feelings about me as well. Another issue is that I also seem to lack confidence in face to face communication. I often get nervous in providing feedback giving and receiving skills. Therefore in order to be successful in my career and develop my professional attributes I also need to work with my interpersonal communication skills and develop the best attitudes and workplace traits. The first incidence, which I need to mention, took place during my placement years. I was assigned as a team member of five individuals where my mentor who was an old yet experienced intern described each and every details of the work by calling us individually. However, I was absent on the day and the next day I wanted to know about it. I grew so impatient that without meeting the main leader I went on asking all my colleagues who had different sets of tasks. I grew so confused after hearing the task, I got nervous. Moreover after meeting my leader also I did not hear him patiently for which I missed many important points and cut him short saying I have understood. Ultimately this had a negative effect on my work and my assignment got poor marks. The second incidence was when I was sent to a meeting with the client where I was representing my company. Although I had prepared myself well and all the important documents with me, I got nervous when I faced the clients. I could not receive their feedbacks effectively and neither could I provide them effective feedback on the suggestions they made on my presentation. I got nervous and my confidence broke down. Moreover I developed complexes thinking that they are developing negative feelings of me which further affected my feedback giving and receiving skills. As a result I missed out on the deal or which my company faced huge losses. Researchers in their articles have clearly stated that hearing is a form of physical ability but listening is a skill and therefore every individual should have the urge to develop the skill to maximize their boundary of professional development (Arnold, 2016). In simple terms listening skills allow an individual to gather meaning from the speakers statements and thereby take interventions accordingly whether to complete a given ask or to develop bonding or understanding between the two stakeholders. Researchers like Purdy and Manning (2015) have stated that an individual who has good listening skills are more productive at work in comparison to those who does not have. An individual always listen to have proper listening skills so that they can better understand the assignments given to them and also develop an idea about what is expected from them by the managers, leaders or employers. The capability to listen as well as to comprehend gives the individuals allowance to build a very strong rapport with the different coworkers and also with clients and managers (Harris, 2017). The employers and managers also tend to develop confidence in the workers. Some of the important aspects that should be avoided are that biasness or prejudices as well as fear, anger and worry should not come in the way of the conversations. Researchers are of the opinion that confidence allows individuals to speak with smartness as well as concisely. Such an individual shows more clarity in his conversations. Professionals who are much confident can communicate much more effectively and can influence their clients by making them believe what they want them to know (Bonnet et al., 2015). Speaking from the heart is one of the importance aspect f gaining confidence while providing feedback and care should be taken that self confidence should never be aggressive both in times of taking and giving feedbacks. A person who is confident in his communication skills can hear what the opposite person is saying, respond to them and also at the same time can maintain their own point of view or can even make compromises to solve real problems. Moreover, learning to use proper humor, expressing gratitude, apologizing when w rong and acknowledging others while giving and receiving feedback will also increase the confined in the individuals making him success in his conversations (Chaou et al., 2017). To describe them specifically, I should join workshops in the community so that I can attain classes on developing communication skills. I can also attain various discussion forums at the university so that I can receive feedbacks on my development of the skills. I will also reflect on my experiences to understand whether I am developing patience and confidence in my communication. Inner beauty could be focused on personality traits, a person’s habits, sense of humor, or their self-esteem. People who are confident in who they are will make the right choices in life and if that person likes who they are will not change who they are for anyone. The people who have inner beauty show love, strength, power, and hope in their lives. The inner beauty of women is stronger than, physical beauty but what do other people notice first? If one person that has characteristics of physical beauty and one person that has inner beauty traits both walk by the same guy, which one do you think he will talk to first? You can’t see the beauty within a person. If that beauty on the outside is not up to one’s standards, of course the one judging is going to walk away. With that, you can’t see the inner beauty. One of the strong factors of inner beauty would be intelligence. As it takes time, more like years, to learn and develop so does inner beauty, building the confidence and self-esteem in one another, will improve outer beauty too. Many people believe this saying, â€Å"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The similarities and disadvantages of the two types of beauties are equal. I do think if we all focused on both aspects, of both beauties, we wouldn’t judge each other on differences. Though one beauty has advantages of appearance, the other may be mental stability and are happy with whom they are inside. Inner beauty may take a toll on a person mentally, what they wish to become, based on someone else’s appearance; then an individual with physical beauty m ay be â€Å"to† confident in themselves. Inner beauty can change, but with physical beauty you can’t change but â€Å"so much† and not including years will take off a person’s appearance. The individuals who symbol inner beauty would feel more deeply, and find it easier to release those emotions or stress; and with being healthier within, could make healthier choices in life. Definition and Examples of a Predicate in a Sentence In English grammar, a predicate is one of the two main parts of a sentence or clause. (The other main part is the subject.) It is usually defined as a word group that comes after the subject to complete the meaning of the ​sentence or clause. The predicate is the portion of the sentence that contains the verb (or verb phrase); in very short, simple sentences, it might be only a verb. The predicate tells what happened to the subject or what state its in. In the case of verbs that arent actions, those that describe states of being are called stative verbs. Finding the Predicate Finding predicates isnt difficult; it just takes some examination of the sentence. You just have to understand who is doing what. First, find the subject and then the verb (or verbs). Anything that isnt the subject of the sentence is the predicate. After the long hike up the mountain, the tour group rested and took in the views. The tour group is the subject, the verbs are rested and took in, and everything but the subject is the predicate. Even though the dependent clause comes at the start of the sentence, it still tells something about when the group rested, making it an adverbial phrase. Its not the subject of the sentence and thus belongs in the predicate. If you are to find the simple predicate, its just the verb or verb plus a helper. Full Day Kindergarten Essay Full day kindergarten should be mandatory and of no extra cost for all of the elementary schools. This will boost the children’s academic achievement. The children that are exposed to full day kindergarten will learn more in literacy and mathematics than those in half-day kindergarten. The students that are in a full day program get to spend more time on their math, writing, and reading activities. The full day students also get the advantage of being able to participate in gym, art, and music classes. The half-day students do not get to experience gym, art, or music class. I have seen results first hand because I chose to put my son in a full day kindergarten versus the half-day. I chose to bring my son to a school that is located in Fridley so that he could receive the benefits of the full day kindergarten. The half-day program that Blaine offers has a very undesirable schedule for parents who work. The half-day schedule for Blaine elementary school is full days Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday. I think that the earlier the educational intervention begins the higher the impact and the more likely the effects will be retained. Other than the health of a child, I think that nothing should be more important than their education. Giving children the opportunity to be in a full day kindergarten program gives them opportunities that the half-day students do not receive. One of the opportunities is being able to spend more time on reading, writing, and math. The teachers also have more time to sit one on one with each student one or in small groups and work on these skills. They also have a different theme for each month that they focus on. Some examples of the themes are the solar system, U. S. residents, maps, and the celebrations around the world. Children also absorb things more easily when they are younger. Being a mother of a full day kindergarten student, I see the results of the extra reading, writing, and math that the teacher does with him. My son is one of the youngest in his class and he is reading at a first grade level. As for his writing, he attempt to write big words using phonics. For example, I came home one day a few months ago and he had written on his dry erase board â€Å"I see a red ladebug†. He also brought home a worksheet that he had written about his favorite fruits. On this worksheet, he had written â€Å"watrmlon†. As far as his math goes, he is always measuring things in the house with a kid’s yard ruler. The themes that they work on each month give the students the ability to know what is going on in the world around them. My son came home from school one day and told me that there was a planet that was not considered a planet anymore. I did not know this and I was in complete awe. According to Debra Ackerman, â€Å"Children in full day kindergarten programs score higher on their achievement test than those in half-day programs. Full-day kindergarten advocates suggest that a longer school day provides educational support that ensures a productive beginning school experience and increases the chances of future school success. In both full-day and half-day programs, kindergartners spend most of their class time working on reading, language arts, and math activities, but the total number of minutes teachers devote to specific subjects differs. For example, 80 percent of full day but only about 50 percent of half-day programs devote more than 30 minutes each day to mathematics instruction. Sixty-eight percent of full day but only 37 percent of half-day classrooms dedicate at least 60 minutes to reading instruction each day. Perhaps most striking, 79 percent of full-day teachers read aloud to their students every day, compared to 62 percent of half-day teachers. Reading aloud is a critical activity in helping to develop children’s reading skills. Additional research shows children’s literacy learning is enhanced in full-day programs, as the full-day schedule provides a more intensive, ongoing, enriched language and literacy experience for the young child. I asked my son’s kindergarten teacher, Ms. Janssen, what the average for reading was for her class. Ms. Janssen stated that the majority of her students are already in the first grade reading level as of the end of the second trimester. As said by the Indiana Association of Public School Super Intendants, â€Å"Full day kindergarten programs are associated with greater reading achievement gains during the kindergarten year than half day programs†. Plucker, 6) The students are graded on their writing and math abilities as well. According to the Kalamazoo Public Schools reports, â€Å"The group of kindergartners advanced in 2010 to first grade at Kalamazoo Public School, where 60 percent tested at or above the 50th percentile in reading on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills last April. That’s a 7-point increase compared to Kalamazoo Public School first-graders tested in April 2009, Rice said. On the Iowa Test Basic Skills math test, 52 percent of first-graders tested a t or above the 50th percentile last spring, a 12-point jump over spring 2009. The Iowa Test of Basic Skills are administered in schools nationwide and is a norm-referenced test, which means scores are based on how students perform compared to other test-takers. The Kalamazoo Public School results show that 60 percent of Kalamazoo students are in the top half of first-graders nationwide in reading and 52 percent are in the top half in math. † (Mack) Children who are in full day kindergarten have better social and behavioral effects than those who are in half-day kindergarten. When children are in school for the full day they have more time to get to know the other students. They get more time to interact together socially and they are learning while they are interacting. The students also get to go to specialists and they go with their classmates. Some of the specialists that Hayes Elementary offers are music, art, Spanish, and gym. Going to the specialist is something that the full day kindergarteners get to do and the half-day kindergarteners do not get to do. These students also get to spend more time with the teacher. This means that they will be less hesitant to approach their teacher. According to Clark, â€Å"Some researchers have examined social and behavioral effects. According to researchers, a clear relationship emerged between the kindergarten schedule and childrens behavior. Teachers rated children in all-day kindergarten programs higher on 9 of the 14 dimensions; there were no significant differences on the other 5 dimensions. Other researchers who have studied social and behavioral outcomes found that children in all-day kindergarten programs were engaged in more child-to-child interactions and they made significantly greater progress in learning social skills†. Clark) In the kindergarten classrooms of Hayes Elementary, the students get into groups called centers. During this center time, the teacher takes a group of five students to a table to do independent reading and the rest of the students go to a center. The centers are groups of three or four students and the students get to interact socially while doing something educational. Some examples of the centers are writing center, listening center, leapster center, and art center. The writing center is where the students can write freely. The listening center is where the students put on headphones, listen to directions, and write down what they hear. The leapster center is where the students get to play a handheld learning game that integrates math, reading, and spelling in the games. Finally, the art center is where the students get to draw and color what they want. When the time is up the students clean up as groups. A full day of learning offers many social and emotional benefits to kindergarteners. As stated by NEA, â€Å"They have more time to focus and reflect on activities, and they have more time to transition between activities. When children are taught by qualified teachers, using age-appropriate curricula in small classes they can take full advantage of the additional learning time—social, emotional, and intellectual— that a full day allows. Further, research finds that children adjust well to the full-day format. † (NEA) The full day kindergarten teachers plan and use the extra time in class well. The time in class is spent differently in both the full day kindergarten and the half-day kindergarten. According to the research that the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, â€Å"The research provides evidence that time in full day kindergarten programs is different both quantitatively and qualitatively from how time is used in half day programs† (Plucker, ii). Full day kindergarten offers benefits to teachers. Teachers prefer the full day program to the half-day program. If there is a child that is struggling with something, the teacher has the ability to find time to help that student. There is also more time to finish activities. According to Ms. Janssen, â€Å"With the full day program I am able to get through four reading groups versus two reading groups in one day. With the full day program we are able to go more in depth on our unit that we focus on in class. † (Janssen) According to the NEA, â€Å"Switching to full-day kindergarten gave teachers more time to plan the curriculum, incorporate a greater number of thematic units into the school year, and offer more in-depth coverage of each unit. (NEA) In the half-day programs there is less time for multiple activities. According to Dr. Martinez, â€Å"Many kindergarten teachers favor full day kindergarten because they find it difficult to balance cognitive activities and affective social activities in the short kindergarten day. † (Martinez, 2) Teachers also prefer full day kindergarten because there is more instructional time than that of a half-day kindergarten program. As stated by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, â€Å" Across all of the schools in the Indiana sample, the proportion of instructional time is similar across program types, resulting in much greater instructional time in full day programs, representing approximately 40-50% more instruction in full day programs than half-day programs†. (Plucker, ii) Teachers also have the benefit of getting to know the students and their parents better. According to Dr. Martinez, â€Å"Teachers state that they have a chance to know children and parents better, to do more individualization of instruction, and to expand the curriculum horizontally. (Dr. Martinez) There are so many benefits for the children. A very important benefit is that the full day kindergarteners have the opportunity to an easier transition into the first grade because they are already used to the full day schedule. The time that the students get to spend with the teacher is a great benefit as well. The extra time that is spent with the teacher is as much beneficial for the teacher as it is for the students. According to the research from Dr. Martinez, â€Å"Teachers thought children developed closer relationships and were more relaxed in the full-day program and felt more a part of the school. Teachers indicated they were able to give more individual attention to students and that children had more time to develop both academic and socialization skills. Teachers noted they could work more on the continuing development of each child and felt children showed more advancement. Teachers indicated they felt closer to the children and that they got to know both child and family better. Some indicated in the full day they felt more flexible, were more relaxed and spontaneous, and felt better prepared to meet with parents. † (Dr. Martinez, 6) The time that the students get to spend on activities is another great benefit. According to NEA, â€Å"in a study evaluating teachers’ views on full-day kindergarten, teachers reported a number of benefits for themselves as well as children and parents. Participating in full day eased the transition to first grade, helping children adapt to the demand of a six-hour day. Having more time available in the school day offered more flexibility and more time to do activities during free choice times. Having more time actually made the kindergarten program less stressful and frustrating for children because they had time to fully develop an interest in activities. Participating in he full-day schedule allows more appropriate academic challenges for children at all developmental levels. Children with developmental delays or those at risk for school problems benefited from having more time to complete projects and more time for needed socialization with peers and teachers. † (NEA) Full day kindergarten offers more benefits to the students that are at risk and children that come from educational and economical disadvantaged homes. If the full day kindergarten programs cost money, as most do, they cost around 3000 dollars per child for the year. The 3000 dollars is charged to the parents of the child. The children that come from the educationally and economically disadvantaged homes would not be able to attend because of the cost. These children are the ones that benefit from the program the most. According to the Indiana Superintendents, â€Å"Students at or below the poverty level enrolled in full day kindergarten scored statistically significantly higher in math and reading than their half day counterparts. Poor children enrolled in full day kindergarten programs tested statistically significantly above half day pupils on reading, spatial, and verbal skills, naming colors and letters, and identifying numerals. (Plucker, 6) Parents prefer full day kindergarten as well. I as a mother prefer the full day kindergarten program to the half-day program. One of the advantages is that I do not have to figure out childcare and who would bring my son to the childcare. Trying to figure out childcare and school between my job schedule would be undesirable. As said by Dr. Martinez, â€Å"Full-day kindergarten saves parents day-care problems, while providing children a comprehensive, developmentally-appropriate program. Parents said that children often feel more stress when they have to go from a school situation to a day-care environment, where different rules and philosophies apply. Therefore, parents favor a full-day program, which reduces the number of transitions kindergartners experience in a typical day. † (Dr. Martinez) Full day kindergarten also takes a huge cost out of many parents’ monthly budget including mine. Even though some people would be against this and say, â€Å"Why would I have to pay for your childcare? † I would say that many parents including myself pay taxes too. Their parents wanted them to have the best education that they could have gotten. Most importantly, I know that my son and many other children are getting the best out of their day while they are in school. They are having fun while they are learning. My son enjoys being in school. If he had a choice, he would go on Saturdays and Sundays. Children attending full day kindergarten spend the day learning instead of watching television or playing video games. Full-day kindergarten provides parents with better support for their children. If I had to choose again if a child of mine was going to go to full day or half-day kindergarten, I would not even have to think twice. England Changed My Life    Question Answered: Recall a multicultural experience that has positively impacted your educational career. Discuss your experience and describe the ways in which you have benefited from this experience.    It all started with an unfortunate and disheartening circumstance. The father of my oldest and dearest friend, Caitlin, had been transferred. Caitlin would no longer be living down the street from me. In fact, she would be over 4,000 miles away just south of London, England. To a pair of twelve year old girls, England was an unimaginable land of tea-drinking fops living on an island almost an eternity away. Needless to say, the day of her departure was an unhappy one. However, three years older and a world wiser, we girls have come to appreciate and even enjoy the influence this situation has upon our lives.    Six months after Caitlin and her family moved away from Pittsburgh, I found myself in plane destined for Heathrow airport. Not only did I arrive with an unnecessary amount of luggage, but also a head full of pre-conceived notions. First and foremost, I believed that everywhere in the world would be exactly like the United States. This idea was proven false five minutes after stepping off the plane. Walking into the parking lot, I took notice of a petty detail I would have otherwise been oblivious to. The license plates were strikingly different! This simple aspect was enough to make me realize that I was no longer at home. Throughout that first day, many stereotypes of the English that I had long believed were each erased from my mind. As it turns out, not everyone likes to drink tea, there isn't a garden party every evening, and the Queen most definitely does not ride around in a horse-drawn carriage with a magnificent entourage all day greeting the simple peasant folk. Luckily, I r ealized these things before I had an opportunity to make a fool of myself and severely offend the people I met.    Not only did my experience in England increase my social aptitude, but also greatly improved my understanding of the world as a whole. When I returned to school in the following months, I could grasp the concept of different cultures and countries. They were no longer simply spots on a map, but real places filled with interesting people leading fascinating lives.

Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza (pronounced /tÊÆ'iË Ã‹Ë†tÊÆ'É›n iË Ã‹Ë†tsÉ‘Ë /;[1] from Yucatec Maya: Chi'ch'à ¨en ÃÅ'itsha',[2] â€Å"at the mouth of the well of the Itza†) is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatà ¡n Peninsula, in the Yucatà ¡n state, present-day Mexico. Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classicthrough the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called â€Å"Mexicanized† and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion. The ruins of Chichen Itza are federal property, and the site’s stewardship is maintained by Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Antropologà ­a e Historia (National Institute of Anthropology and History, INAH). The land under the monuments had been privately-owned until March 29, 2010, when it was purchased by the state of Yucatan.[3] he Maya name â€Å"Chich'en Itza† means â€Å"At the mouth of the well of the Itza.† This derives fromchi', meaning â€Å"mouth† or â€Å"edge†, and ch'e'en, meaning â€Å"well.† Itzà ¡ is the name of an ethnic-lineage group that gained political and economic dominance of the northern peninsula. The name is believed to derive from the Maya itz, meaning â€Å"magic,† and (h)à ¡, meaning â€Å"water.† Itzà ¡ in Spanish is often translated as â€Å"Brujas del Agua (Witches of Water)† but a moNorthern Yucatà ¡n is arid, and the rivers in the interior all run underground. There are two large, natural sink holes, called cenotes, that could have provided plentiful water year round at Chichen, making it attractive for settlement. Of the two cenotes, the â€Å"Cenote Sagrado† or Sacred Cenote(also variously known as the Sacred Well or Well of Sacrifice), is the most famous. According to post-Conquest sources (Maya and Spanish), pre-Columbian Maya sacrificed objects and human beings into the cenote as a form of worship to the Maya rain god Chaac. Edward Herbert Thompson dredged the Cenote Sagrado from 1904 to 1910, and recovered artifacts of gold, jade,pottery, and incense, as well as human remains.[7] A recent study of human remains taken from the Cenote Sagrado found that they had wounds consistent with human sacrifice.[8]

This is true for any French person: no matter their age or standing, every single French person nowadays applies some glidings that are not taught to students of French. And many French teachers from France with higher diplomas will refuse to teach the modern glidings etc... thinking they are participating to the decadence of the language if they do.   So what French learning tools should you use? What to Do If Youre Placed on Academic Probation Being placed on academic probation while in college is serious business. You may have known it was coming, you may have had no idea it was coming- but now that its here, its time to sit up and pay attention. What Exactly Is Academic Probation? Academic probation can mean various things at different colleges and universities. Usually, however, it means that your academic performance (either in a series of classes or through your GPA) is not strong enough for you to be making acceptable progress toward your degree. Consequently, if you dont improve, you may be asked (translation: required) to leave the college. Learn the Specifics of Your Probation Just like schools can have different definitions of academic probation, students can have different terms for their academic probation. Read the fine print of your warning letter and make sure you understand everything thats in there. How do you need to change your academic standing? To what? By when? What happens if you dont do so- will you need to leave the college? Leave just the residence hall? Not be eligible for financial aid? Get Help No matter how confident you felt, clearly something did not work out if youre on academic probation. Check in with people for help: your academic advisor, your professors, a tutor, other students in the class, and anyone else you can utilize as a resource. Sure, it may be awkward to ask for help, but doing is almost certainly less awkward than having to leave college before you had planned to. Keep Getting Help Lets say you reach out for help, get a tutor, and work, work, work to study for your next chemistry test- which you promptly ace. Your confidence goes up and you start to feel like you may not need as much help as you thought you did. Be extra careful not to let yourself fall into your old patterns- you know, the ones that got you into academic probation in the first place- and to stick with getting help throughout the term. Prioritize Your Other Commitments If youre placed on academic probation, youll need to do a serious assessment of your other commitments. Passing your classes now becomes your number one priority (as it should have been from the beginning). Be honest with yourself about your other commitments in college and, as hard as it may be, cut out as much as you need to in order to make sure your academics are getting the time and attention they deserve. For example childhood health attitudes and upbringing can determine future adult health perceptions and outcomes (Toivanen and Modin, 2011). As an instance a child may not have been encouraged to exercise and in adulthood develop related health conditions; intervention in community fitness knowledge could have reduced any further health risks. The impact from food manufactures can also influence social attitudes affecting a healthy diet such as overeating. Health information may not be fully understood and from a Health Survey for England found the black and minority groups are most likely to become ill (Postnote, 2007, p.1) because of a lack of understanding in social health matters. The social model of health would prescribe that health facilities and information should be formatted and made accessible in a way that can be received and understood by different ethnic groups to reduce health risks and improve social well-being. Minority mental health inequality has been previously under represented, however the social model of health would understand that minority cultural and social background issues, should be addressed by social health services to deliver appropriate health care and enable a sense of well-being (Aisenberg, 2008, pp. 297). The Black Report of 1980 also determined health inequalities in lower social classes were a result of poor housing and sanitary conditions leading to unhealthy life styles (Maguire, N. D.). Socio-economic factors can also affect health, as incomes become divided lower income may encourage poor living conditions (Kawachi, 1997), and with persistent economic conditions can affect health (Watts, 2000). In gender the socio-economic status of women and mens health can be affected through economic opportunity and prosperity (Ballantyne, 1999). The social model of health would focus on reducing economic disparities in salary to offer equal health. To conclude, social health determinants can significantly influence the physical, mental health and well-being of a person and society to fulfil their lifes potential. The social model of health is a factor in attaining good health by recognising the benefits of improved living conditions, lifestyle choices, food and access to care. Specifically social well-being draws attention to improving social inequalities and encourages a healthy society whilst challenging government and businesses to adapt to different service users, ensuring they are not impinged by their illness. The "Moon Hoax" has been around since 1835, when the New York Sun printed an article about this whole ordeal. The New York Sun used and credited Sir John Herschel, who was a British Astronomer. Herschel claimed that he had tried out a new type of telescope on the Cape of Good Hope in January of 1834. While in Cape Town, he said he'd set up an Observatory. Using this, he claimed to have observed what he thought of as the "Real" Moon. He claimed to have seen vegetation, bodies of water, and living creatures. He also said he had seen "Bat People" who were described as being furry winged men. This took the People at a shock, and the "Evidence" and science astounded them. So many began to believe this is true. Today, there is still talk of this "Moon Hoax". There are many things that one can say doesn't make sense about the whole idea of landing on the moon. Most astronauts that have landed on the moon have brought back samples of a type of Lunar rock. According to Dr. Sten Odenwald, we have accumulated at least 841.6 pounds of moon rock.. ?Moon Hoax? Believers say that this Moon Rock could be any thing, and that if you take an unfamiliar type of rock, and call it a Moon Rock, people are going to believe it. There is one major problem with this theory. ?Dr. David McKay of NASA's Johnson Space Center says that faking a Moon rock to fool scientists around the world would be next to impossible. ?It would be far easier to just go to the Moon and get one!? he says.?
